Explosions
This page helps calculate damage for people and objects near an explosion.
Explosions can do either Crushing or Burning damage,
in addition to fragmentation (cutting). The
armor divisor, if any, applies ONLY to the explosion damage (p415).
Other rules:
- Grenades need to be thrown.
- Roll against DX-3 to hit a specific target, or against DX to hit a general area, applying the usual modifiers for size, speed, and range of target.
- Fragments attack at skill 15, modified only by:
- - range (-1 at 3yds, -2 at 5yds, -3 at 7yds, etc)
- - target's size (SM)
- - target's posture (prone, crouched = -2 (p551))
- For every 3 points by which a frag attack roll succeeds, an additional fragment hits.
- The only available defense is Dodge and Drop (p377)
Damage from explosions can be listed like so:
Under-barrel 40mm grenade launcher (p281)
4d(10) cr ex[2d]
That means
4d crushing damage with
10 armor divisor, and
2d frag damage.
